Johnstown, PA – Amtrak will expand service on the Pennsylvanian with a second daily round trip beginning November 18, 2026, providing customers with more travel options on this 444-mile route between New York City and Pittsburgh. The service stops at 18 stations across three states.

“This second daily round trip will provide greater flexibility, strengthen connections across Pennsylvania and demonstrate the value of strong partnerships in growing passenger rail,” said Amtrak Board Member and Chair of the System Growth Committee Rob Gleason.

The additional frequency is the result of close collaboration among Amtrak, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Norfolk Southern and the Federal Railroad Administration, supported by ongoing infrastructure and safety improvements along the route.

Customers traveling aboard the Pennsylvanian enjoy Coach and Business Class seating, free Wi-Fi, cafe service, checked baggage and trainside checked bicycle service, allowing customers to bring their bikes on board for travel across Pennsylvania and the Northeast Corridor. Beginning November 18, checked baggage and bicycle service will be available exclusively on Train Nos. 42 and 45.

The Pennsylvanian is financed primarily through funds made available by PennDOT.
