Considered the “gem of the prairie,” McCook was established in 1882 as the result of an agreement between the CB&Q Railroad and the Lincoln Land Company to form a new railroad center. The Tudor Revival depot features Gothic arch windows and Jacobean strapwork that embellishes the waiting room ceiling.

Amtrak Mardi Gras Service to Launch in August 2025
Tickets are now available for new twice-daily service starting August 18, between Mobile, Alabama, and New Orleans, along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This state-sponsored passenger rail service will offer convenient morning and evening departures from both cities – and make intermediate stops at Pascagoula, Biloxi, Gulfport and Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.
