History

The stop in Victorville is a shelter on a platform. Located at the Victor Valley Transportation center, Amtrak’s service to the town began in 1990 and continues since 1994 on the Southwest Chief.

Named for California Southern Railroad General Manager, Jacob Nash Victor, the town of Victorville was founded in 1895. Originally named Victor, the town’s name was changed to the current one in 1901 by the United States Post Office in order to avoid confusion with a town of the same name in Colorado. Victorville was incorporated in 1962.

The town is home to the former George Air Force Base, built in 1941, now known as the Southern California Logistics Airport.

Amtrak does not provide ticketing or baggage services at this facility.

Victorville is served by two daily trains.
