History
The Staples train station was built of stone in 1909 by the Northern Pacific Railroad. The city acquired the station on February 11, 2008 from BNSF, and is beginning exterior repairs with roof replacement near completion. The interior is still quite deteriorated and in need of repair.
The Northern Pacific Railway Depot and Freighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
Amtrak does not provide ticketing or baggage services at this facility. A caretaker opens and closes the station.
The Staples station is served daily by two trains.
