History

Grand Forks began its growth as a city in 1880 due to the development of the Great Northern Railway. It was always known as a vital and dynamic rail community and served as headquarters of the railroad's Dakota Division.

Amtrak built the current station in 1982. This facility has a waiting room and is staffed by an Amtrak employee.

The Grand Forks station is served daily by two trains.
