Pacific Surfliner Gains Four New Station Stops

By October 7, 2013 No Comments

Under an agreement between Amtrak, Caltrans and the North County Transit District (NCTD), the Amtrak-operated Pacific Surfliner began making regular stops at Carlsbad Village, Carlsbad-Poinsettia, Encinitas and Sorrento Valley starting October 7, 2013. The new station stops are served by three northbound and three southbound trains each day.

Previously, these stations were only served by the COASTER commuter rail operated by NCTD. Notes Jay Commer, Amtrak General Manager State Corridor Services: “We are pleased that we were able to work with our partners at Caltrans and NCTD to provide all our passengers with more travel options.”

The Pacific Surfliner is primarily financed through funds made available by the California Department of Transportation.
