Federal Railroad Administration to Host Informational Forum for Washington Union Station Expansion Project

The Main Hall of Washington Union Station shines brightly following the recent rehabilitation of the coffered ceiling.

As the lead federal agency for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) will host an informational session on Wednesday, March 30 to review the draft project elements for the Washington Union Station Expansion Project.

Amtrak and Union Station Redevelopment Corporation are proposing to expand and modernize the station as the National Capital Region’s principal intermodal transportation hub. The FRA invites the public to learn more about the project elements that will form the station expansion design concepts.

The forum will be held on March 30, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Washington Union Station’s Presidential Room located in the East Hall.

Washington Union Station is a bustling intermodal hub for the nation’s capital.

In addition to the Union Station Expansion Project, planning and design is now underway to deliver several critical, near-term improvements to the passenger concourse and rail facility. These improvement projects advance simultaneous to ongoing environmental review and long-range planning studies.
