Amtrak to Build New Passenger Platform at Lawrence Station

The Lawrence, KS station will receive $600,000 worth of renovations as part of the new stimulus bill, an Amtrak spokeman announced on Thursday, March 26th. The funds will enable Amtrak to build a new platform for the station that is compliant with the ADA regulations. The cost of the platform has been cited as one of the hurdles keeping the city from purchasing the station from BNSF Railroad, which owns it presently.
